Sick is Sick...Even in Paradise

We just got back from a semi-wonderful trip to Hawaii. This is such a great time to go as it gives us a nice break from the winter cold. The first few days were truly paradise. Hawaii is one of my favorite places and I ate it up, soaking up the sun and atmosphere. However, after a few days, a health crisis appeared: stomach flu. It hit with a vengeance and I did not completely recover until coming home and collapsing in bed for two more days. Sick is sick, even in paradise. It was hard to really enjoy being there after that. Oh well, at least it was a break from winter. :-)
It also brought to mind some of our poorly-run classrooms. Most children approach school with excitement (at least until a poor teacher kills it) and one of our great challenges is to keep it exciting. But, a terrible atmosphere is a terrible atmosphere...even in school.

I agree 100% about how a bad teacher can ruin a child's ambition to learn. It's sad how many teachers are teaching now days who don't enjoy what they do. A teacher should be someone who makes ambition grow in a room full of kids. Kassi C 4330

I'm sorry you got sick on what should have been a wonderful vacation. Hope you're feeling better.

BTW, I really enjoy your classes. Not just the vital information for the class, but your thoughts and experiences about what makes a great teacher. You've given me a lot to think about. It is really enlightening.

I couldn't agree more. If the atmosphere at school stinks, then the children are not going to want to be there. We need to make school fun and exciting for the children so their first experiences in school are good ones. If we create a love for learning early on, it might last their whole life.

Teachers play a very important role in a child's life .a teacher can make the life of the child and also the teacher can ruin the life of the child . so , our child should be in the hands of the best teacher .

Sometimes good things also gives us bad experience , so we should have the habit to forget the things which has caused harm to us and try focus on what has to be done in the future .
